KDUL Under 14 Premier

Clane United 1 - 2 Monasterevin AFC

24/10/2025

MAFC travelled to Clane United for an unbelievable 70 minutes of football under lights .

Coming off an disappointing defeat in the SFAI 6 days previous MAFC were full of hunger .

The game started well with both teams having good link up play between defence and minefield , Clane opting for the long ball approach with MAFC trying to play from midfield to attack .

Both teams had early chances to test the keepers and defensive organisation from corners .

MAFC got a breakthrough on 19 minutes when Emil Kostoj got the ball inside his own half and played a lovey weighted 25 yard pass to find Hugh O’Loughlin , rounded a player to pass to Jack Fitzpatrick who found Jake O’Farrell to calmly put it past the keeper to make it 1-0 .

It was very nearly 2-0 when a ball from Hugh found Tadgh O’Farrell who rounded the keeper but he recovered well to put the ball out for a corner .

Hugh himself went close on the 25th minute .

The rest of the first half was a battle in midfield where Cormac Kelly , Dylan Moran , Jack Fitzpatrick and Tadgh O’Farrell worked hard to win the ball and create chances .

The extremely well drilled back trio of Dylan O’Neill , Michael Kirwan and Emil Kostoj kept Clanes attacks at bay .

The second half continued with the pace that the first ended with and the fresh legs of Matthew Gould and Kyle Websdale the work continued . Clane also made changes to strengthen their midfield .

Clane's breakthrough came on the 44th minute and brought a new lease of life for the home team . MAFC defensive trio and wing backs of Tadgh O’Farrell and Kyle Websdale worked relentlessly for the next 15 minutes with keeper Oisin Murphy making some vital saves .

The last 10 minutes the game returned to the visitors with Tadgh O’Farrell , Lucas Orban and Matthew Gould all going close .

Kyle Websdale’s switch from left to right side of midfield brought more attacks and with a beautiful cross to MAFC players running in, a defensive error led to an O.G .

MAFC saw out the remainder of the game and ran out deserved winners with some lovely football played from everyone.

Well done to the coaches and team.

Thanks to everyone who supported and the teams sponsors
